ICE DANCING

Ice Dancing is really ballroom dancing on ice.  It is distinguished from pair skating by the absence of jumps, spins and lifts above the shoulders.

There are twenty-one compulsory dances.  These dances are divided for Skate Canada purposes into Preliminary, Junior and Senior Bronze, Junior and Senior Silver, and Gold categories.

In competitive dancing, the couple must perform compulsory dance patterns, an original dance pattern and a free dance.
